A part of the handwritten collection of the National Library in Prague is a collection of sheet music bought in 1925 from Karel Kučera, a teacher from Bechyně. It contains about 300 handwritten pieces of music put together by the Lapáček and Kučera families whose members worked in South Bohemia as teachers and choir musicians. The repertoire and external appearance reflect the preferences as well as professional engagements of the collectors. The largest part (mainly documents concerning the performances of choir music) comes from the collection of the choirmaster Jan Kučera (1745 [?]-1836) and the schoolmasters responsible for the choir music: Jan Lapáček and Karel Kučera. Lesser part is made up by violin concert repertoire transcribed by the son of the above mentioned Jan Kučera, and salon music in the possession of Marie Eichinger-Kučerová. The notes that can be found in the sheets manifest the reception and migration of the repertoires within South Bohemia as well as the personal relationships among the members of the school masters' families. The collection has been processed for the Union Catalogue of the National Library and the records have entered the RISM (Répertoire internationale des sources musicales) international database.
